The Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore has published an article concerning the trial section of the graphene-based supermodifier Gipave, carried out in collaboration with Città metropolitana di Milano.
The project for the development of the Gipave graphene additive, funded by a call from Regione Lombardia (POR FESR 2014-2020 / innovation and competitiveness), was carried out with the collaboration of G.Eco (A2A Group), the University of Milano Bicocca and Directa Plus. The product was tested for the first time in September 2018 on a kilometer of the Strada Provinciale Ardeatina in Rome.
In September 2019, a second trial of the technology was performed on a section of the SP35 Milan-Meda and involved the construction of three layers of the pavement (base, binder and wear). The aim is to confirm the results that were already obtained in the laboratory and through worksite tests. These results demonstrate an increase in the duration of asphalt pavements by 250%, with a reduction in the costs of ordinary and extraordinary maintenance.
In October, another trial section will take place on a stretch of the Lacchiarella SP40.
